This is a wiki on massage-related topics for the massage community.
The content of this wiki is curated, meaning that it has been validated for general use by the community. "Curated" means that an overseer takes responsibility for the content of the collection. In this context, it means that I have examined the content to determine whether it contains justified true beliefs (JTBs): the classical definition of knowledge.
If the wiki post meets that criterion, then it will be added to the wiki, and the author will be credited with the post. If not, then the author will have a chance to revise it in accordance with the feedback provided, for inclusion in the wiki once it has been so modified. If the author does not wish to modify the page, s/he will have the option of including the post in the uncurated part of the POEM site, provided it meets the criteria for inclusion there (no personal attacks, no commercial advertisements, and so forth).
JTB has been selected as a criteria for wiki page evaluation, not because it is a panacea (cure-all): it most definitely is not one, and I am not claiming that it is. But it is a good enough criterion for many of the cases, and so I am using it as a beginning point to accomplish what it is capable of.
The reason that JTB is good enough for a starting point relates to POEM's vision and mission. It is intended to provide foundational educational materials for the massage community. That means that it makes use of validated, well-established knowledge--anything too speculative or undetermined or actively disproven is inappropriate for laying the foundation of a solid massage education. Of course, if it proceeds from speculative or undetermined to solidly validated, it will be re-assessed for inclusion at that point.
This wiki will be a resource for validated foundational knowledge as a resource for foundational education in massage, and I hope that you will contribute to developing that knowledge.
Please consult the wiki help page for information on adding or editing a wiki entry.
ALSO NOTE: each wiki entry has a "talk" tab where you can keep discussions about the topic separate from the main entry.
Please aim to keep the main wiki entry on the topic with objective/factual information and any subjective or opinion based information about the wiki subject on the talk page.
